Do many stables have direct access to trails? I'm trying to picture the difference between down there compared to up here. We have State Forest to ride in and we can go out in the woods for hours...
John Walsh's wife rides - and she is very accomplished. He is not so accomplished - but a real trooper for fundraising events. John and REva are great supporters of the Busch Wildlife Sacntuary. The sanct. has an annual rodeo fundraiser and the Walshes are always resent for that.

Direct access to trails is very dependent on the location of the stable. We can ride in the forest for hours also, but we have to trailer to get there. You will find some stables here with decent riding trails at the back gate, but those are few and far between.

I too am a "trailrider" and we are always looking for an addition to our trailriding group. When you get relocated down here we will have to hook up and ride!

When I used to drove long distances I put a litter box in the floor of the back seat but also stopped at rest stops along the way- with a harness on each cat and a leash of course. Otherwise I had no problems. Once they go used to the ...drive...they settled down and were fine.

It really is amazing how fast they settle in and become great little travelers! The first time my husband I took off with our cat, going from PSL to eastern TN, before we hit Vero, we thought we had made a big mistake. But he soon settled down and today he is a seasoned traveler

And I really think he is happier in thel ong run. In the past couple of years, we have been forced to make some fast, unplanned trips up north where we boarded the cat for 4 or 5 days - not a happy kitty when we got home either time. Weight loss, despondent, annoyed, etc. He is much happier to travel with the family.
