I recently purchased a home in Port St. Lucie with the intent on moving there. THe job outlook at the time looked ok for rest. management. Does anyone have any idea about the job market in this field. I have put off my move until the economy stabilizes. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Melbourne might be a bit far.

Check out: All Restaurant General Manager Jobs in Port St. Lucie, FL | Indeed.com

Also, if you live in Port St. Lucie, be sure to expand your search into Stuart/Jensen Beach and Fort Pierce. PSL, for all its population and growth, is still very much "behind" in developing restaurants. A large cluster of restaurants is in the St. Lucie West area, Tradition, and US-1, but beyond that it could probably do much better, especially in the "chain" restaurant department.

You can also start sending your resume out to restaurants that are looking for managers in the Treasure Coast area:

At this time it doesn't look like much is available, however.

Thank you for your response. I live in Brookhaven now. My brother bought a house there, then my sister. I did the same in August of 08. I was looking forward to moving there without a mortgage and all I would have to worry about is just taxes and living expenses. Then the economy and job market there like everywhere else is very unstable. I have put my plans on hold until things get better. I am hoping that happens soon. I agree with you it is a great place. Thanks again.

Paul

Good luck Paul.. My bro in law use to live where you do now on Surrey Ln now he lives in Clifton Heights off N Bishop Ave going away from Balti Pike a mile towards Providence Road... I am very familiar with the area... I also lived in Aldan for some years and rode my bike every third day to Swarthmore Ave and back again....

11 years ago we decided not to purchase a vacation home in Brigantine NJ. Duplex with 2nd floor ocean views. At 165k we said there was a few things that needed to get repaired first. Silly of us because they were very minor for a 4 year old duplex....What a huge mistake we made for not getting it when the price was very very low compared to today's property values in that same area.... On the same block a duplex went for 675k 2 years ago...We could kick ourselves. Oh well if we knew that then my grandmom would have stayed on the Ocean front in Wildwood on 26 street..(I think- past the roller coaster)

So what I am saying is there may or may not be a jump in RE in Florida but be sure that you know the RE market when you decide to do it or pass on the home. We miss the North but miss Atlantic City just a tad more due to the Casinos...
