Just out of curiosity does anyone have high sewer bills? Me thinks something is wrong. Every month the sewer portion of our bill goes higher. We are only in the home a few days every month, turn the water off when we are not there and shower instead of taking baths and only run the washer a couple of times a month yet for some reason (and I will call tomorrow) the sewer bill is getting out of hand.

Can someone who has a normal house tell me approximately what they are paying on that portion? This month ours Total water bill was $30 and $20 of it was sewer. That is higher than our electric bill LOL.

wow sounds like you have a leak...but whatever your water bill, expect your sewer bill to be at close to double. Our water bill was always around $20 and our sewer portion was around $40, total bill was near $60 even when we were conserving like heck! That was for a family of 4, sometimes 6 when my parents were staying with us. Have the city check that out for sure! IF you are only in the home a few days each month, your water portion should only be about $5-10, total bill of around $20.

Don't forget that there are usually monthly minimums, no matter how much you use.

Yeah I just called and found out that there is a minimum each month. Must have missed that point when we set up the installation. The minimum bill is 21.77 or something like that so you have to go from zero at that point. You are only charged after using 1000 gallons so I guess we finally topped that mark last month. Glad to know we don't have a leak but the minimum seems a bit high.

I had no idea there was a minimum! I guess I've always used just the min or slightly over it....Hmmm. That seems kind of dumb especially if you don't live in the home : ( Is this City of PSL water or St Lucie West? Is there a difference?

I assume they are the same. If you look at the water bill it has the minimum listed but it is not really clear that it is the minimum amount you pay. In reality our water bill would have been about $8 if there were no minimum. Some months it would have been far less because you only get charged additionally above the minimum after you use 1000 gallons of water. For instance if you use 999 gallons of water in a billed month you would pay the minimum. The next month after you go over the 1000 point you get charged the going rate for 1000 gallons of use. I think they could make it more user friendly but now I know how to figure out my water bill.

PSL water dept and St Lucie West are NOT the same- not even close. Give me PSL water any time!

My bill on SLW water/sewer is $65-70 a MONTH and the water is not wonderful. I take a bath and the water is dirty looking because it comes out of an aquifer (deep water well- and no there is no smell) You don't see the color when it's running in the sink but in the white tub you sure do.

My bill when I was in Tradition was about $30 a month - HUGE difference.
