We are in need of a good butcher(other than Publix) and Bakery(ditto). We love Publix. Great store. But really like the connection with a good butcher and bakery. Melbourne has a few good butchers. Petty's and Kenny's. Any in Vero? thanks

Not really. We were going to Weiss Market (butcher) for their supposedly home-made sausage but the quality has been going downhill. I think he's stuffing them with sawdust. They've gotten pretty dry and tasteless lately. There's an Italian bakery called Ferrara's on rt. 1 (they have a webpage) and if you're not a real Italian you might actually like their pastries. They use whipped cream for everything. Cannoli... stuffed with whipped cream. Key Lime Pie... it's a whipped cream pie dyed green. Tiramisu... you guessed it! Whipped cream. The best baked goods around are to be found at Toojays.

Thanks for the chuckle this morning The sawdust and whipped cream thing gave me a good laugh. I know of a bakery as well that only uses whipped cream. Its not very good. A cannoli with whipped cream that is not the real Italian way. And yes, I'm Italian.
It is so hard to find a good Italian sausage. And I have some that tasted like sawdust.
We like a good steak. Believe it or not we have purchasing our steaks and pork chops at Costco. They are good and inexpensive.

floridaobust, I'm sending you a private message. I have a 'sausage' connection that I don't want to share with the world because he tends to run out fast after he makes them.

2goldens... Vero Beach has it's own Toojay's.

oh, my gosh. I just looked up TooJay's. The deserts sound so good. The chocolate and banana cake sound amazing. Is there one located near the mall area

I have been working on opening a pastry shop. I am just looking for locations and reading anyones post it seems that there is no bakeries around. Does anyone have any areas that might be a good location. I also have been thinking about the Jupiter area also.
