Thanks for all the info, everyone....this forum is great!
My husband's job will only be a temporary assignment (3-6 months) and we love Florida (have never been to this area though), so I thought, why not? I've done tons of research on the internet, so I know we will be coming to a good, family friendly area, but you can only garner so much info from on-line. It's the local's input that is really helpful to hear, so keep it coming if you would

Although I've only lived in Vero Beach for a couple of weeks, I've taken many rides around the area, and Hutchinson Island is very close by. Your other threads ask for information on Jensen Beach rentals and you've said that Vero is too far to commute, so I'm a bit confused.

I didn't realize Hutchinson Island covers so much area. Thanks. I guess the reason it took me so long to drive from Stuart to Vero Beach is that I took route 1 or A1A instead of I-95. I just looked at a map and saw that Jensen Beach is north of Stuart. For some reason, I thought it was further south. The day I was in Jensen Beach & Stuart, I had driven all night. First I drove from Bonita Springs to Nokomis and then to Tampa and across the state to Vero Beach and then to Jensen Beach & Stuart and back to Vero Beach, so it's not surprising I'm a bit lost! The one thing I remember about Jensen Beach was the really good breakfast I got at a diner. 2 eggs, toast and home fries with onions for $1.99. (coffee was extra) I hadn't had good home fries like that in ages. Great waitress too. Unfortunately, the library didn't open until noon, which is why I drove to Stuart, which also looked interesting.
