Is Vero Beach SOUTH different from Vero Beach? I am looking to relocate either to Vero or Port St Lucie. Are there areas of Vero that I should avoid?

As for PSL, I have only visited PSL WEST so far, and I really liked it. I will soon be visiting other parts of PSL with a realtor. Are there areas of PSL to avoid? (As in depressed areas, rundown, etc) WHat about the Gaitlan (sp?) area of PSL, is it nice? The real estate listings always describe it as "desireable"...

St. Lucie West is a bit different than the rest of PSL, partly because there are some gated, upscale areas and partly because there are some smaller developments with individual characteristics (townhouses, duplexes, etc). There are also some areas with individual personalities like the recent development of tradition, the new development of Vizcaya Falls just coming out of the ground, and the ultra-rich development of Tesoro.

Most of the rest of Port St. Lucie, at least 90% of it, are virtually the same with ony subtle differences in neighborhoods. There are no run down areas, ethnic areaas, etc. anywhere in the city. One possible exception might be the Torino area, which was under a building moratorium for many years until central water and sewer was provided. As a result, there are no houses older than 8 or 10 years; or whenever the moratorium was lifted. The area around Southbend is also a bit different because the central connector road has no houses facing it. Other than those minor differences, it really doesn't matter where you buy, except for your convenience -- if you are commuting to Palm Beach County I might want to be around the Gatlin area, if you are commuting to Stuart I might want to be East of the river; if you are communting to Fort Pierce, I might suggest Northport or Torino.

I live smack in the middle, off Floresta about halfway between Prima Vista Blvd and Port St. Lucie Blvd. I'm not near anything but I'm not far from everything.
