I knew you would provide us all with your valuable and well written insight.
What will we do when you move to good ol' Okeechobee?

Seriously though...all you have to do is call the police when you have problems with your neighborhood...Their average response time for a noise ordinance complaint is 8 minutes! Pretty impressive at 1 in the morning! We've stopped some "parties" in empty lots from getting outta hand and parties with loud music (on weeknights even) to turn their stuff down to a reasonable level. The police are great in this town.

They've always came thru for us...and no, I do not have relative or friends that work for the PSL police dept, I just think they are a very valuable resource to our city.

Ling Ling, my Dentist has a house in Port St Lucie for sale. Custom built and it was almost finished just as the market started to turn. Figured it was worth $500,000.00 at the market top. Told me the other day that it just sits there and that he'd be happy to get an offer of $290K. It's 3600 sq ft, 3 car garage, about 2900 sq ft under a/c.

I'd be interested if we weren't looking elsewhere. My Wife and I are trying to buy another house about an hour from where we are ( Port Charlotte on the West Coast). Thankfully we do not need to sell although we will list this house when we finally have a contract on a new house.

I think the markets going to get worse. But we still want more room and a boat in the backyard, so we're willing to TRY pursuing a new purchase. The rest will be up to the seller and how realistic they are with regards to value.

Good luck!

Default nuclear power plant

Yes i love st lucie

but living next to a nuclear power plant has me up at nights,,WHAT IF ?

It is sort of nerve racking exspecially there was reports of children with lukemia back in the early 80s and FPL accidentally sent radio active waste into the drain systems .It is on the internet .

I saw what happened in harrisburg pensylvania back in the 70s

If we have a accident we are all finished the no way i am taken iodine tablets.

yes that what FPL warning brochure tells st lucie residents might have to do in a accident take iodine pills.

I am thinking about moving toward orlando in the future

I, too am interested in Pt St Lucie areas. I went down to visit with my family
and fell in love with the Vanderhoff model homes average prices around $300,000.
but the lots are small. I have two dogs and need yard space.

Port Saint Lucie is about as "quiet" as you're going to get and not be completely cut off from the world.

Home prices have fallen dramatically, but the city is HUGE land-wise. Your experience in East PSL, a short drive to the ocean would be very different from someone in Saint Lucie West, or Tradition, or near Becker Road, or more in the center of the city.

My suggestion is to rent (anywhere but Windmill Point or Parks Edge, as that is the lower-income neighborhood... still not bad as far as lower income goes!) and explore. Prices aren't going up anytime soon with so much on the market.

300k for a custom built home in PSL these days is too much, in my opinion.

Standard lot size in PAL is 1/4 acre. You may still be able to find "double lots" for sale, particularly in areas West of the Turnpike. Again, prices keep falling, so take your time.

So True!!!!

[quote=pslOldTimer;161999]

Then, you devote most of your vitriol to running down Fort Pierce, which has nothing to do with the topic, which is Port St. Lucie. And, even there, you exaggerate -- Avenue D worse than some areas of Philadelphia? You must be terribly insulated up there to not have seen the big city ghettos. You probably have also not seen Avenue D since it was totally rebuilt, landscaped and cleaned up. Fort Pierce is NOT the city you remember, if it ever was.

PSL OT, you never ceased to amaze me with your balanced views. I am new to this cite and as I work my way through these threads, I find your comments impressive and fair.
