Young family new to Portland area – any groups for families with young children?

Hello All:

Our family just moved to the Portland area from out of state and we are excited to be here! We are currently renting in South Portland, but will likely be moving to Scarborough by the end of the year.

We have a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old. We are getting involved with our kids’ school networks, swim lessons, and other activities, but we are also interested to know if there are any general gatherings/groups/get-togethers in the Portland-Scarborough area for young families with small children (and/or families new to the area).

After all, it is always much more fun chasing your kids around the beach/park/yard/restaurant when you are visiting with others who are doing the same thing!

Enjoy your summer and thank you for any feedback or insight!

I'm not aware of a formal or posted group.
You could check out meetup.com to see if they have a group.

Another idea is pick a beach or park you particularly like and go there same time each day, you'll end up seeing the same people, and you'll get to know them.
