Hello Everyone. My name is Michelle, I am looking to move to the Portland area this Feb (weather permitting) and have a few questions that Google can't seem to answer for me.

I am a cosmetologist and will be looking for a good salon to work in. Google seems to pull up just a handful of salons, mostly downtown. I am good at what I do, if I can get them in my chair they always leave happy. Being new it would be nice to find a salon that has a good amount of walk in traffic to help build my clientele. I can adapt to any salon type from hip to higher end, all I am looking for in a salon is a drama free place to work.

Not being too familiar with the area, are most things concentrated on the peninsula? We are looking at moving to the East or West end depending on what we can find in our price range. I have been using Zillow to search, rentals are better than some places I lived, but looks a little on the high end.

I have been reading over a lot of the posts about Portland and Maine, trying to do as much research as possible to make a well informed decision. So far we LOVE everything about the area and are so looking forward to our move within the next few months. I am so excited to get back to living by the ocean, about the only thing I miss about living in Los Angeles LOL!!

Any advice to newbies would be welcome.

Thanks
Michelle

My salon is Studio 77, right over the Casco Bay bridge in South Portland. Ann Marie is the owner and I dont think they are hiring, because someone ne
w came on a little while ago, but everyone is very friendly. I think it would be worth stopping in and asking all your questions.
