A mid-coast Mainer friend will be in Portland mid-week & he's wondering what to do with his time between 9am & 2pm. He lives in the greater Rockland area, and so do I. As far as Portland goes, I've only frequented the waterfront at an unreasonable hour while delivering fish, so I can't help him out.

Any suggestions? Congress St.? Portland Museum of Art & galleries?

Thank you for your consideration!

No one has responded?

There's tons to do... museums, go sit in a coffee shop in the Old Port and read, take the ferry to Peaks Island (walk on) and wander around, or get a beer at the small bar at the Inn On Peaks Island. Have lunch at Flatbread Company and watch the ferries... browse a bookstore... there is no shortage of stuff to do.

I would probably park and wander the Old Port, head to Peaks Island... Congress St. has some things (like the PMA) but more interesting stuff is down on Commercial, Fore Street, Exchange Street... that area.
