My father recently passed away and as his executor I need to have his beautiful antique grandfather clock as well as a smaller grandmother clock appraised. We are located in southern Maine in the town of Wells. We also have a very old glass door bookcase that we need appraised as well. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for reputable appraisers in our area? I appreciate any help as I live in Alaska and will be coming back to Maine again in January to try and and settle things. Thanks

Thanks for the recommendation, I will give them a call. They are 165 miles from north of Wells so they might not want to travel that far but it's worth a shot. Thanks again.

What do you plan to do with the clocks? Is it for estate taxes? Do you plan on selling them? You will need to let your appraiser know what type of values you are looking for.

The highest values will be for insurance purposes. Fair market value is what a collector might pay for them. And remember that if you run them through an auction, you will have to pay the auctioneer a percentage of the final selling price. And with an auction, there are no guarantees on what they might bring.

Default Still looking for an appraiser

I guess we are looking for insurance value. My sister would like to keep the Grandfather Clock. We are going to be in Maine for a week starting 1/10/14 and we are still looking for an appraiser.
