When does the school year typically start in the greater Portland area? Where I currently live, our kids start mid-August.

Usually after Labor Day.

Compared to other places where I used to live, Maine schools stay in session much later. Usually till early June. But they also get more vacations and breaks.

Gorham usually starts the Thursday before Labor Day and then has Friday and Labor Day off before resuming on Tuesday.
