We're spending one day in Portland on our way north later this month and would appreciate a critique of our plan - what are we leaving out? We will get there the night before and are leaving the morning after, so we have a full day including drinks etc.

Our plan, based on recommendations from a Portland expat friend:
Breakfast: Scratch Baking Co.
Morning: Fort Williams Cliff Walk / Cape Elizabeth 2 Lights SP
Lunch at lobster shack at Cape Elizabeth
Afternoon: ???
Dinner at Eventide Oyster Co.
Our questions:
  1. What to do with ourselves in the afternoon? Assuming good weather, hiking and biking (cycling) are options, or a walking tour. If poor weather, recommend galleries/shops?
  2. Which brewery has the best tour/tastings/vibe?
  3. Stocking up before we leave - is Hannaford's the best grocery store for regular day-to-day groceries?
  4. We will hit LLBean when we leave - our plan is to hug the coast but is it worth it to stay on 95 for the Eddie Bauer outlet too?
I think that's it. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

For your afternoon I would recommend to do some island hopping (Peaks, Chebeague, others). The ferry tickets are inexpensive and it's a short, yet scenic ride. We enjoy bike riding on Peaks island. If you don't have your own bikes, a place on Peaks offers cheap rentals right off the ferry.
