Sigh

I do love Maine, most of it is rural and low crime.

Curious why this is posted on the Maine Forum? Happen in Portland or other Maine town? Or just another example of life "down south"? ;-)

Because Peter doesn't want to be in Maine, he wants to be in Florida.

Overall, Maine still have a very low crime rate and is a great place to live. For most of us.

Ditto. Maine is the best place to be. As for "Peter"...I just left Florida to come home to Maine and believe me ....the crime in Maine is NOTHING, even compared to just one city in Florida.

Ditto Abby, other than the snow shown in the video, that could have been shot right down the road here on Ft L beach on a nightly basis !

The Old Part is a section of Portland Maine. It was posted in the Maine Forum because it happened in Maine.

The person who added the video in January said:

Watch the lady in red. The fight started as a snow ball fight between a bunch of drunks on St. Patty's day, but quickly escalated. This was right out front of Bull Feeney's in the Old Port
Is Bull Feeneys an establishment in Maine?

In my travels, many harbors in many nations have sections call 'the old port'.

I should imagine that many cities in America have sections of the harbor called 'the old port'.

I've spent a lot of time in the Old Port, and I'd hardly call that typical. Do bar fights happen? Yes, sure. They happen everywhere that you get a bunch of people together and add alcohol.

I've seen a lot worse than this in Florida than in Maine so if that's his basis for moving to Florida I think he'll be disappointed. There are certainly valid reasons to choose Florida over Maine, but crime and violence wouldn't be my platform.

And as for the girl, what happened to her was terrible. Just awful. It makes me sick to my stomach. But I'm a girl, and I would never ever step into the middle of a fist fight, under any circumstances. I don't care if it was my dad and my husband, I know better.
