Nice Town, it's a bit spread out, no real town center or village. The layout of the town is a bit weird. It has a strip of Generica as we call it with the Wal-Mart and other box stores and chain restaurants on Route one nestled in with some car dealerships.

Falmouth has a variety of retail stores on route 1 including a big name grocery store and a small shopping center on the west side of town with another big name grocery store.

You will love Mackworth Island, a gem of an island donated to the State of Maine by Governor Baxter for the establishment of a school for the deaf.
A beautiful perimeter path maintained by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands is open to the public during daylight hours. Visit it all seasons of the year for a real treat

The causeway to Mackworth island washed out last spring. It took them several weeks to rebuild it. They had to close the school for almost a month! I believe everything has been repaired by now ...This isn't New Orleans.
