It's my girlfriends 35th birthday this weekend. We enjoy everything from a good night of bar hopping, to a nice quiet beach with a bottle of Cabernet. I'm guessing that there will be a few biased people about Portland, but she's lived her life in CT, and I'm from CA so I know nothing about the area. I have 2 basic options:
1: Portland Harbor Hotel and some nightlife in the area. Maybe a trip to an island? What are some suggestions?

2: York Harbor Inn in Kittery. It appears to be a very sleepy little place, but beautiful.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Default Here's my vote!

Portland Harbor Hotel- take her out to Great Diamond island for dinner and then come back to the Old Port for a little bar hopping!

Problem solved. That was an easy one! Next?

I second Mermaid's suggestion.

Maybe if your GF were turning 65 would I take her to Kittery!

Other than the Kittery Trading Post- not much happening there.

Default Hmmmm

The YHI is in York, not Kittery. If you were to spend the evening on Seapoint Beach, it would be a lifetime experience.
