I have two computer monitors (17" and 19") that work perfectly well. The only downside is they're not flatscreens.

Is there anywhere around Portland that will take these as a donation? I hate to take these to the recycling center if they can still be used.

I tried freecycle but got no takers.

Chances are you will have to scrap them....Will Goodwill take them?

I believe Staples accepts monitors, old computers, cell phones, etc. for recycling...large items for $10, small items for free.

Not sure how that stacks up with the recycling centers at Riverside.

Try Ruth's Reusable Resources http://www.ruths.org. I've had no personal experience with this program but it's worth a try. Too bad you had no takers on Freecycle

Thanks for the info!

Here's what I found:

Goodwill will take used computer equipment, but does not re-use the stuff, and has a recycling deal with Dell.

Ruth's Reusable Resources will take tube monitors only for recycling.

It's probably just me, but seems a shame that nobody can use this stuff anymore. I guess it's flat screens or nothing.

^Many stores won't even sell Tube monitors/ televisions anymore. Go check Bestbuy or another electronics source. They're all flat panel. I know with television, it's all about the digital signal and sources, but I don't know with computer monitors. However, if you can get a 19 inch flat panel monitor for $100 or less even, why go with the tube?

It's a shame you can't find takers, but I'm not shocked.
