Hello everyone! It's going on almost 3 years since I first posted this thread and I thought I'd update for all it's worth!

We're still here in our rental in Cape Elizabeth, and am LOVING it here! When I moved here originally I was something like 8 months pregnant, now my beautiful son is 2 1/2! How fast time flies! I had my son at the newer Mercy birthing center. It was without a doubt, the best place I could imagine to give birth. Everyone was so friendly and caring, and the center was right by the water, so I had a view! Now we're thinking about a possible 3rd and final baby in the next year or so And compared to how it was at the beginning of my last pregnancy (where my only option was a dreary, dirty Kansas hospital to have my son) I really cannot wait to just relax this pregnancy, and truly be at ease with where I'll have my baby.

We've decided that Maine and Cape Elizabeth is *exactly* the place we want to live for a very long time, and are starting looking at places to hopefully buy (or rent somewhere that is just perfect if nothing else). It's more expensive here, sure, but you absolutely get what you pay here. I love being so close to so many beaches, and have such an easy drive to DT Portland. My oldest son loves his school Pond Cove which makes me very happy, as it truly is a lovely place to grow academically. I absolutely love the many choices you have for anything in this area. For groceries I often go to Trader Joes, Hannafords (and sometimes Whole Foods), and I'm VERY much enjoying having those great options (as in Kansas, the only choice was Wal-Mart! ) There are many theaters to choose from, along with zoos, water/theme parks, ferry/island rides, trains rides (my kids adore the Pumpkin Patch train at halloween!) and countless beaches and towns nearby to visit that each have their own unique and special feel. Can't find what you want here? Drive down 2 hours to Boston, where there is anything and everything, or take a longer trip to NYC!

So if you can't tell, we're all so happy here. I feel we found our forever place to live. Still can't thank you all enough for the support during that crazy time when we moved! Hope you're all great and remember, never let negativity sway you from taking chances and going where your heart tells you to go!

Hey, good to hear that you're happy and doing well after the move! It's nice to get an update, some people just disappear [from the board] after getting here.

Do you have any idea how many women in this country manage to actually deliver babies without insurance? It really can be done. Babies have been coming since time began.

I was curious- how have things worked out for you in Maine? We are considering a move to Portland, and I'm looking for input from recent re-locators. Thanks!
