Number 50 to be exact I'll try to keep my mouth shut, but others I'm sure will want to chime in. Is Rip City over over run with girly boys? ( I don't mean gay)
What say you?

Note some of the criteria - NASCAR, major league sports franchises and (the kicker, as the sponsor of the "survey" was a pretzel company) per capita "salty snack consumption."

If that's the definition of "manly" - I'm not interested in "manly" men.

"men, men, men, men; manly men, men, men (sing along).

This is the silliest survery I have ever seen. Portland men are just fine.

I agree with Minervah. It's one more reminder that those who are concerned about their manhood need to foist their opinion of what it means to be a man upon others. Like that whole ridiculous quiche thing a few years ago, and recently the waxing thing or the goatee movement.

What I consider a man and what another person considers a man can be very different things, and they're all still men.

Before everybody runs out and buys blood pressure pills, maybe you should realize that this is a fun ranking - it's supposed to bring smiles to people's faces - it's supposed to be silly.

The salty snack food sales component is probably the first hint that maybe it isn't meant to be taken seriously.

I wouldn't be caught dead living in any of the Top 10 manliest cities. Who really wants to live in Columbus, Charlotte, or Philadelphia? All the fun, cool cities are listed toward the bottom. like SF, LA, Miami, and Las Vegas.

IMHO, Portland and the Northern Willamette valley need some "manly" men to run the cities and counties, so the "nancy" boys that form the general sheeple population around here can grow some by association.

This comment only applies to NW Oregon.

In the distant past, we had some relatively manly men as leaders around here, I don't know what happened................................

Mocking Portland, even if done for fun, can be as serious an offense as mocking a certain prophet.

I fear that if the sponsor of the survey, Mars Chocolate North America , has a local warehouse, it will be stoned and firebombed by Portland true believers.
