There are very, very, very few. Mostly certain kinds of gas stations.

When I first moved here last year, I was stunned at the fact that virtually all grocery stores and all pharmacies (from what I can tell) do not stay open all night. The pharmacies close especially early.

This is in stark contrast to my home state of Georgia, where virtually all major grocery stores and pharmacies are open 24 hours a day, sometimes even on Christmas.

I suppose it's just that laid back Portland attitude at work...

QFCs are open 24 hours.

Some Safeways are as well (the majority are open till 1 AM), such as the Woodstock Safeway. The Roxy is open 24 hours. The Original Pancake House, IHOP on 82nd, Denny's, that one coffee shop whose name eludes me at around 19th? and Powell, various Subways, Taco Bells, and other fast food establishments...

Winco is open 24 hours, and Safeway is open at 5am until 12 midnight I believe.

From what I know, and my personal experience:
It all depends on your local stores.

The chain pharmacy near me had the Drive-Up window open all night when I moved in, but not any more. Others in that chain may still have all nite drive up prescription pickup.

Same with Safeway, depends on the store, neighborhood.

Even some convenience stores don't stay open much after bar closing time in some neighborhoods. TriMet don't run buses nor MAX all nite either.

There's Southeast Grind which is a 24 hr coffee shop:

Portland's Only 24 Hour Coffee House | Southeast Grind

And Dutch Brothers has a 24 hr coffee kiosk at SE 5th and Belmont.

Yeah! Southeast Grind... That's the one I was thinking of. It's kind of ridiculous that it may actually be Portland's only 24 hour coffee house...

The big tourist attractor (thanks to the NYT and Anthony Bourdain), Voodoo Doughnut - The Magic is in the Hole!!! is open 24 hours, I think at all locations.

Personally, I don't see the point, but then I didn't see the point of Krispy Kreme, either - I don't like donuts.

If you don't like donuts there isn't much point to it--if you do like donuts it's awesome, although personally I prefer Sesame Donuts over on Beaverton Hillsdale highway.

There are a few other 24-hour places for food I can think of in Portland. Montage, the Cajun bar & grill under the Morrison Bridge. There is also the Roxy downtown near Powells for all-night diner food. And of course Javier's Mexican restaurant up on N. Lombard and Vancouver. During the day it's an average tacqueria, but at about 3 am on a Saturday night the place has lines out the door---last time I went there they had guitarists playing Mexican ballads.

The Hotcake House on Powell just off the Ross Island Bridge is open 24 hours.

Hammy's Pizza on Clinton delivers until 4am.

The food cart pod at 12th & Hawthorne is open pretty late; I think each cart sets its own hours.

Sex clubs like Angel's and Club Sesso tend to keep late hours.
