Well I thought I would let everyone know we found a great store that sells organic mattresses in Portland.

Cotton Cloud Futons
701 NE Broadway, Portland 97232
phone 503-335-0758
www.cottoncloudfutons.com

We loved the " at home experience ", the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. My friend has a bad back and had been wanting an all natural mattress. He told me he's sleeping like a normal person again because of the mattress and wakes refreshed !
They have a nice variety of pillows too!
I bought one and LOVE IT !

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. WTH is an organic mattress? A mattress stuffed with certified organic cotton or something? And this is somehow supposed to make a difference?

No joke. After many years with a conventional box and spring mattress, I recently bought an all-natural latex mattress. I actually ordered mine on-line, after much research. It has been great. Much better sleep. It has a tempurpedic like feel, but without all the petrochemicals involved in a tempurpedic mattress. The one I got was also nice in that you can choose your firmness layers for both your side of the bed and your significant others side of the bed, independently - in fact, the one I got had 3 latex layers for each side of the bed, so 6 layers in total, creating any number of combinations to help you get that perfect feel.

It wasn't super cheap, but should last longer than a boxspring, and you typically spend 6-9 hours a day in your bed - so it was a great buy.

organic meaning chemical free. I can recall some people getting very ill from buying these new couches, caused by some chemical that was applied to it from the factory. can be the same with mattresses i'm sure.

In the grand scheme of things what are the odds of that?

When I was very young, like many kids, I was afraid of evil monsters lurking under my bed.

Calvin and Hobbes Comic Strip, September 21, 1986 on GoComics.com

Little did I know that the monster was actually a part of my bed....the evil mattress.

That's pointless if you or your children were the ones with severe allergies.

Thank you very much, but I'll stick with the good old-fashioned pesticide-soaked mattress variety. It keeps the bedbugs out.

I'm gonna stick with my Tempur-Pedic. I'm grateful for this thread, though - I linked it to my Facebook page, and the last half-dozen people or so who couldn't understand why I moved suddenly understand, judging from the comments I received to the link.
