Google'd the company, can't find hamellr's buiding on American Property Mgt. website, they may list only buildings with vacancies. The following may be of interest: American Property Management Corporation - Google Maps

KBC Management: KBC Management - Google Maps

Most folks who post comments are unhappy so there is a bias in these things.

Apartment Ratings is a decent source of information, search by zip code. Downtown is 97201. Use a 4 or 5 mile radius.

But, isnt the whole point to cart your a55 to Oregon to conform to how they live there? I never ever subscribed or got the whole, we gotta move away from what we hate, but we gotta bring it to the new place attitude. I never got it. I mean isnt the true point of a new start to keep all that old stuff buried and conform to a new life? I would do it and save myself and all the residents the hassle and I would be one of those transplants who wouldn't complain or say oh, this is how we did it back where I'm from.

Fly - I just moved to LA from PDX and let me tell you - traffic in Portland is actually worse than here, in my opinion. The reason being is that here in LA, you have a bunch of freeway options to get to where you're going. If there is traffic here, which can be a nightmare at times, it generally moves. In Portland you have one, MAYBE two options to get around via a main freeway. Never mind the fact they are doing construction on bridges there which makes it even worse. And when the weather turns (rain/snow) forget about it. You can sit on the freeways forever. A couple winters ago Portland had snow ( which is not uncommon for Portland by the way) and I remember reading friend updates on Facebook saying it took 4 or 5 hours to get home (30 miles).
Long story short, live somewhere close to work if you can. The Pearl, NW 23rd, South Waterfront and Sellwood are all close and fantastic areas to be in for someone in their 20's. You may have to bump up your rent budget a bit but you may be able to find a good deal.
