Have you driven in San Francisco or LA? I don't think you would say their driving styles are similar to Portland at all. I won't argue with any statement that says that freeway traffic is awful much of the day.

If the OP's job is out by the airport and not accessible by MAX then s/he should look for housing on the east side of Portland. Frankly they should rent for at least a year and become familiar with the area so that any home purchase is for the long haul.

So far I am thinking Newport at North Harbour 1000 N Anchor
Portland, OR 97201. Looks like there are several options to get to work other than the freeway plus it does have train access and is close to the city....???

rent is high 1200 or so look in gresham take the max or live in vancover acroos the bridge no state income tx

If you live in the state of Washington but work in Oregon you pay Oregon income tax.

Yes.

You don't pay sales tax at the store check out.

There are many cars with Washington State plates parked at the Malls near the Interstate roads on the weekend.

Ditto - especially the Tualatin location. Those commute times are way off. It took me over an hour sometimes (during rush) to get from Cornell Rd to PDX
