I cannot comment on which of my suggestions would offer your son the best opportunities for his basketball passion, nor which would offer the best educational choices. Overall, I would at least look to home prices in neighborhoods for City of Portland's public schools that feed into Grant HS. But I don't have children attending school in Portland.
I looked up High School basketball ratings for Portland and Grant HS does not have a very good record.
The 2 top teams are Catholic schools(which is a option), The 2 top rated public schools right below that are Lincoln and Westview. Any idea about those neighborhoods? I am not opposed to driving up to 30-35 min to work.

In the order you mentioned them:

Jesuit is suburban just off the Beaverton Hillsdale Highway served by bus #54. Surrounding neighborhood developed in the 60s & 70s. You could drive to downtown in 30-35 minutes. IMHO moderate home prices nearby.

Central Catholic is in an older close in neighborhood. The only Central issue is that vandals sometimes hit the cemetery nearby. IMHO less expensive home prices. Easily drive downtown in 30-35 minutes, maybe even use a bicycle.

Both of the above schools draw from a large area, they are not 'neighborhood' in any sense.

Lincoln (my alma mater) is very academically oriented, some of the same social profile as Jesuit. You could walk downtown from many Lincoln enrollment area home addresses. Homes tend to be on the expensive side.

Westview is newer a suburban high school, Beaverton District I believe, near NW 185th. You would be taking the Sunset Highway daily to work, no way 30-35 minutes unless your work day started before 6:30 am. Homes probably high end of moderate.

Choosing a school and buying a home is an important decision. Why not work down the list visiting the schools, even trying to talk to the coaches, to see what is the best fit for your family.

What neighborhood would Lincoln & Westview be?

Since I will be relocating(if I get the job), I most likely won't have time to visit any of the schools etc.... We will probably rent 1st then look to buy. And since my son will only be going into Jr. High/Middle school we will have a few years until high school. But we do want to be somewhere where we won't have to move again. And most likely my work day would probably start around 6am.

Lincoln, basically the west hills and downtown: http://www.pps.k12.or.us/schools-c/map/LincolnMap.pdf

Beaverton Schools high school enrollment map: http://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/pdf/d...lHigh_2010.pdf

In the Lincoln enrollment area the middle school is West Sylvan. http://www.pps.k12.or.us/schools-c/m...tSylvanMap.pdf Skyline School, also in the Lincoln enrollment area, is K-8 because it is a geographic outlyer (transportation).
