Does anyone know what's happening with the Milwaukie riverfront redevelopment project that, from what I can find, has been in the works for years? The city's webpage on it hasn't been updated since 2010, although I found a news story that stated that they were supposed to get some federal dollars for the project in 2011.

We will be moving back to the Portland area this fall (we are currently in San Diego) and Milwaukie is, so far, high on our list of desirable locations. So we are trying to find out what's happening as far as redevelopment and projects that will benefit the city in the future (other than the Max line). I know that there are also some plans to clean up Kellogg Lake but that those are also stalled for a couple of years due to lack of funding. Are there any other projects in the works that anyone knows of?

As I mentioned, we are presently in San Diego, which makes that kind of difficult

IMHO, it's probably stalled awaiting the decision of whether the Milwaukie Light Rail project goes through.

I thought that the Orange Line was pretty much a done deal, just waiting for final plans?

In this economy assume nothing. If you rent instead of buying you can move on.

The Orange line depends on the Bridge across the Willamette river. Federal money is the majority of the funding. Any bets that the funding will be actually be there? Hmm?

I sure ain't betting either way.

We do plan on renting for at least six months before buying- we are in no hurry. Guess we'll see how the redevelopment stuff shakes out over that time frame, as it will impact any future value of our home. We do need to make sure Milwaukie is the right choice; I've enjoyed the time I've spent there (close enough to SE amenities without SE prices!) but we haven't actually lived there yet!

Hello, I am currently researching a more detailed answer for you. In the meantime you can check out this link for what's been happening at the City of Milwaukie: Milwaukie Living and Real Estate: Milwaukie Light Rail Project

If the link doesn't display just go to Milwaukie Living and Real Estate
