I know I'm going to come off as sounding a wee bit self-righteous, but bear with me. What I'm just trying to say is that if you move to a new state and you're going to be enjoying the privilege of using the services and infrastructure of that state and are claiming to make it your new "home" then you need to be paying your fair share to contribute to the funding of those services and infrastructure just like the people whose home it already is. It is dishonest and taking advantage to not follow these laws. But really what it comes down to is that the law needs to be better enforced. Lawful citizens of Whatever-State should probably only blame themselves for not enforcing the rules better.

.
OR will get plenty of $ out of me while I live here. I am not too worried about going to hell over this delayed license plate registration thing.

You seem a bit too busybody. In several posts, you make comments about enforcing rules, wishing you could turn people in, etc. Don't sweat so many mundane things - life is better! Who defines "fair share"?

Witt regards to the topic - Mostly CA and WA in the complex I am staying in. I swear there are more WA cars there than OR cars in that apartment.

It takes awhile, usually a few weeks to a month to get sorted out. If you have your original title and do not have a loan, you are in good shape. Good luck!
Thanks for the heads up, but fortunately, both cars are fully paid off. The 2nd one was paid off two months before we left, and I made sure I had the paper title for it before coming here, figuring a hassle like what you mentioned.

Quite true in some places, but in others - not so much.

One other thing I've noticed is the amount of police cruisers I've seen driving around. I swear everytime I drive from my home near the 212/224 split in HV to work in Milwaukie or to CTC, I see at least one of them. In Ohio, I could commute an entire week w/o seeing a cop - here it's almost every jaunt.

On the flip side - I have only seen perhaps one or two on the expressways so far (knock on wood w/my (bad, wander! bad!) leadfoot).

That's interesting, as we talk consistently about how we NEVER see police, almost anywhere in town. We can go weeks and even months without seeing any. Probably why you see pretty significant speeding on Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy and Barbur.

I can't speak for the rest of metro PDX, but for me, the vast majority of them have been Clackamas deputies. In the three weeks I've lived here in HV/Damascus, I'm sure I'd need close to all my fingers/toes to count the separate sightings of them. That stretch of 212/224 from 205 to the split is definitely well patrolled.

It depends on the budget of the department and what their priorities are. State Police have been cut deeply. County Cops in larger counties tend to be out a lot because they have to travel to a ways to their jurisdictions. City Cops can be hit or miss. Beaverton seems covered with them, but Gresham seems like they're never around. I think a lot of that is that they'll be concentrated in certain areas that need more patrolling.
