After one month away from daily 100+ temps of Texas I already think 85 degrees is too hot. How did this happen?

LOL Interesting. I wonder what will happen when you get into the long, gloomy, misty season up there. Long periods of cool damp weather, with little sunlight, and long nights. Might change you into an abino frog.

I agree that TX temps are too extreme in the summer, but the late fall / winter / early spring temps, and the abundance of sunny days are a big plus. Everything is reversed, and the weather in TX is great when PDX is crummy.

Your brain cooled off and you're now able to be sensible. 85 degrees *is* too hot, and always has been.

Here's how you fix that. Visit your local brew-pub. Start on the left side of the taps and order a pint. Drink. Hitch up your backpack and hike up Multnomah Falls to Larch Mountain.

Repeat. No longer a wimp!

Or you can go visit South Eastern Oregon down around the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge

Even as an ex-San Diego resident, I have found the last 2 days almost unbearable in terms of the heat. Blech!

I've got a few Sierra Nevada Summer Ale's left in the fridge that I've been sipping on. During the hottest hours I find a forest to hang out and have lunch in...so much cooler then the house. Today it was Tryon Creek SP.

If you stay around long enough, you'll eventually get to experience a northwest heatwave. They aren't that bad... the 2009 heatwave topped out at 106 degrees in Portland, and I think the city's record is only 107... but it's warmer than many people assume it can get in cool, rainy northwest Oregon.
