Daughter is on her car trip move out to Portland, but needs to find a hotel/motel that can accommodate her as well as her 2 cats for probably 4 to 5 days, until she finds a more permanent place to stay. She has a rather tight budget and after experiencing a Motel 6 last night in New Mexico, she would prefer something else ... She certainly doesn't need anything fancy, but clean and in a safe area, (you know we mother's always worry), would be nice. Any suggestions would be great.

Pet Friendly Hotels in Portland OR

Check out this website. What are her plans for her permanent stay? If she will be looking for an apartment, it will more than likely take her more than four or five days to find one. A nice hotel/motel that accomdates pets will probably not be inexpensive.

The only other option I can think of would be for her to stay in a hostel and board the cats.

Thank you! I have posted that website for her to check out. Very kind of you!

As for her long term plans she starts work I believe towards the end of the week and would like to get settled as quickly as possible. Moving van hopefully won't arrive before she finds something. Needless to say, this is turning into quite an adventure for her. To be 25 again!

Where will she be working? That may determine the best place for her to find a hotel and also what kind of apartments are in the area.

I did what she is doing a long time ago when my company transfered me to Portland. It certainly is an adventure. I wish her luck. I am sure she will do fine.

Oh and PS even though I was 32, my mom still worried. That was long before cell phones and the Internet but we all made it through okay.

I don't care what age your are - we mothers will ALWAYS worry! My daughter is transferring with her company and will be working in the area of SE Washington St, Zip 97216. I believe her boss indicated Happy Valley or Clackamus as good locations to live.

Parts are and parts aren't. Clackamas around 82nd is not a good area. I am not really familiar with those two so hopefully others will chime in.
