Yes, I know it is relatively small. That is a plus. On paper the schools look good and the district does not seem to be struggling with budget cuts as much as other neighboring areas. We are specifically looking at the area surrounding Boeckman Creek Primary. Does anyone have any experience with that area and Wilsonville in general? Thanks

Wow, really?? Nobody has anything to say about Wilsonville? Bummer.
Guess I'll just have to wait until we get there to satisfy my curiosity.

All I know is that it is a suburb of Portland. Maybe this will help.

My only experience with Wilsonville is the construction around I-5 that makes it slow and difficult to get around. I think someone on here lives in Wilsonville...can't remember who.

My sister taught in the school district ... and it was excellent. But, no experience living there. My general impression though, is it'd be great.

Wilsonville is a relatively "new" suburb. It started getting built up when land in Tigard was butting up against the UGB, developers just moved south.

Oh, and it has Fry's. That is if you want cheap terrible quality electronics and are willing to drive for it.
It's still growing pretty fast though. The major strip mall on the North side of town is less then five years old and has all the big box stores one could need. It has a lot of light industrial and commercial on the west side of I-5, but for many years I always thought that was part of Tigard until I visited the Nike DC that used to be there in the early 00's.

But really, Willsonville has been a small town, bump in the road for so long that it has yet to develop a feel as a separate town. It still feels like an extension of Tigard.

On the other hand, it's close to major portions of Oregon's history. The second Mission was there (Willamette Mission, now a state park.) The town of Charbonneau where the citizens and the settlers of French Prairie made the historic vote that sealed Oregon's history is nearby. A relative of Daniel Boone's ran a ferry across the Willamette there (Boone's Ferry Road.)

Wilsonville is absolutely lovely, especially the southern end where the town center and Memorial Park and Lamb's are located. Very pretty, very pleasant, very walkable kind of place. Lots and lots of trees and, in the spring, flowers everywhere. People are friendly and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and feels very comfortable and supportive. It's also a very safe place. I've never felt the slightest bit uneasy walking around at any time of the day (or night).

And I have to disagree with the above poster, Wilsonville definitely does not feel like an extension of Tigard. First, Wilsonville isn't that close to Tigard. Second, I find that it has a much more substantial "close to nature" feel than many of the other towns around it. I think this is partly because it is smaller, and partly because of the way the development has progressed. Either way, it's really nice and I am glad to call it home.

Do you possibly mean Tualatin, not Tigard? Wilsonville isn't really that close to Tigard. It's no big deal, but I'm just curious as to why you say "Tigard".
