*confused*

Yeah, not to knock waitressing, but that's not really professional employment in the commonly accepted definition of the term.

It does seem that the higher your skills, experience, and education, the more you'll have a hard time finding commensurate work.

Despite my education and experience, I'm still not an "upwardly mobile professional," nor am I in one of the more (apparently) lucrative and prestigious fields of medicine, law, and the like. I mean, I guess I am a professional since my experience is in teaching and mental health work and requires advanced education, but I'm not very high up on the totem pole. I'll be lucky if I can pull 30k a year.

Maybe I'm wrong.

That's fine. You don't have to be in a "lucrative profession"....LOL

The only thing that matters is that you're happy with what you're doing and that you're contributing something positive. Keep doing what you do and you'll find the rewards in those precious young faces. I say you are carrying a "wonderful tune" and your "notes" will eloquently shine on your "Staff"

P.S. Men seem to always fall in love with the waitresses...LOL
Maybe there's an addictive pill in the pie for them

Ditto that.

I'm so happy I found this site. I have been thinking about moving to Portland and now I really feel like it might be the place for me.
