Hi - I'm getting a new bike. I will be moving to Portland/Beaverton area in the next few months and wondering what the cycling trails are like? I won't be using my bike to cycle around town much, more for going to parks and riding trails and such. Not sure what they are like though, are they paved? worn trails? bumpy rides? Would I be better off getting a mountain bike or more of a hybrid? Any help appreciated!

Most park trails are paved. Very few aren't except in Forest Park. You should get a Hybrid for general riding anyways. Keep in mind that in parks there are few dedicated bike only trails, you'll be dodging pedestrians and dogs who have the right of way.
