I have not been by there for a year but as I recall there was a stretch of vacant store fronts downtown from SW 2nd to SW 4th along Taylor St. They would be a good size for the kind of shops you are describing and the location is good; just off the main part of downtown but still in an area where people would go to restaurants and not far from office buildings. One of the properties housed a bookstore for many years. They moved due to the increasing rents.

There are other vacant storefronts in that area as well, but like I said, I haven't been around there in awhile so I don't know what is available today but it would be worth checking out.

I have never heard of anyone using an apartment finding service here. We use Craigslist primarily. Tools such as www.padmapper.com collect listings and put them on a map.

You should absolutely, positively check out King City. It's an incorporated city right next to Tigard that is for seniors. You can walk to their mall and get all the services you mention plus you are right next to Pacific Hwy with public transportation (bus, plus you can take the bus to the Tigard transit center to catch the WES train). Oh yeah, it has it's own golf course, too.

I don't know what the rents are but I feel confident you will find something there.
