I once lived in a house with only a tiny vestige of a hallway (it was that small). In a smaller house, it makes sense to ditch the hallway so as to maximize living space (hallways usually don't count as such).

On the other hand, if the house is big enough? A hallway acts as a psychological separation point between those areas where you eat/play/work, and those areas where you sleep/bathe/poop. It allows you to feel a bit more isolated when you want a quiet place but others want to be noisy.

Many older apartment buildings back East and the Midwest have cupboards and drawers built into the walls in a hallway.

Looking at the pictures of this mobile home, it just looks too cold and modern to me. But according to the ad, I guess I should be liking it because I am an Oregonian.

Obviously the work of relentless focus groups looking for the ideal customer. You are not it. With good marketing it will be a hit in California. It has to be good and green, its from Oregon.

I like a lot of cabin designs and (even some dare I say) mobiles. Never in an urban environment would I attempt to live in one.

Really? Do they say that in California? How funny.

You are right, I wasn't in the focus group. I wouldn't be an ideal customer. I also like some mobile homes and cabins and different types of housing. I just didn't like this one.

I went and looked at the floor plan of the house ... and I have to say, I'd be happy to live in it (alone, mind you). Lots of good stuff in a small space.

My apartment is about 675 sq ft. So this mobile home to me would be large. I would love to have 850 sq ft. That part of this home I could live with.

You would be amazed at the aura of Portland and Oregon as some green utopia. I speak to people who have never been to Oregon (in Texas and other places) and they act like its never never land. Full of sprites, green elves, trees and zero pollution. Oregon would do well to work that brand and start exporting anything with the word green on it. These folks would eat it up.
