That's a good point, and I thought about that myself. But surely ALL of Trimet's jobs are not driving positions, ie. you are placed at a desk job or fare enforcer, etc. And I have more of a problem with the fact that employee's only have to work 10 years. Seriously what other group outside of Congress get's that kind of treatment?

But I think we can agree on the healthcare costs. So many of the problems would just go away if we were to look to adopt a government healthcare system. Having healthcare tied up into employment is just crazy.

That might be an option if TriMet was not a union company. It's all about seniority. I think operators are about 1600 of about 2100 employees. Maintenance and operators have seperate seniority too.
