I recently relocated to the Portland area. Before moving here, I was involved in a weight loss program that enabled me to lose 45 pounds. (I was on a prescription of Phentermine and received HCG injections.) Since moving here, however, I have gained back about 25 pounds. I need to find a doctor or weight loss clinic that will prescribe me Phentermine, but my BMI is just below what would be considered obese. (Many places specify that a patient must be obese in order to obtain a prescription.) Does anyone know of a facility or physician that has more liberal requirements for this medication (or any other reliable appetite suppressant)? I would even consider a nominal amount of travel to get to the clinic or doctor. Thanks!

I suggest you contact your former physician for a referral for continuing treatment.

You gained back 25 pounds because HCG is a total and complete FRAUD of a program. Its useless. A scam. A fraud. Snake Oil. Baloney. You were bamboozled.

Do you research on HCG and you'll find that it is a total waste of your money, a waste of your time, and a waste of your life. DO NOT EVER TAKE HCG!!

Any and EVERY independent study on HCG for weight loss says its complete baloney. Only postive things you will hear or read about HCG will be from people who sell or some way profit from it, and/or people who post online with like less than 10 posts saying how great it is and that they get their HCG from "___________ clinic in ____________ and you can call or visit ther website at www.___________.com". Such total fraudulent snake oil sales people they are.

First off congratulations on your weight loss, obesity is a serious problem. I'm not sure what your doctor's plan is for your weight loss program, but right now might be a good time to gradually transition from drugs to a high fiber low fat/sugar diet with lots of exercise. Lots of green veggies, fruits, wheat, grain, rice, soy and bread. I'm trying to lose 50 pounds this year so I feel your pain. I have to because if I don't eventually my weight will kill me. My motto is "get busy living, or get busy dying."

I am not going to tell you how to lose weight because what works for one may not work for another. There is no one way for every person. I would caution you however to really do some research on the drugs you are seeking. There is a reason the medical profession will not prescribe them for people under a certain weight. They are not safe and should be used only as a last resort if at all.

There are weight loss clinics in Portland. Find one and follow their advice. Liberal requirements have nothing to do with it. It's a matter of your safety.
