Did I miss this new poster in all my cranky comment making?

Apologies if others are offended, I broke my clavicle a month ago and am just getting a bit stir crazy in not being able to go for a run or bike ride.
Debate really is a poor substitute.

I am resisting the urge to post in another thread. I will post here instead. Cranky?!!?! Perhaps its just spring is about to break and there is a lot of pent up energy. The old thread I will not be posting in took some time to read.

Take a minute to consider your position.

Do you have the best for all at heart of for just some.

Fair isn't always fun.

Fair isn't always what you think it is either.

If someone shares a contrary point of view consider the position it is coming from.

Sorry to hear about your clavicle... I can't speak for others regarding whether or not you offended them. I wasn't offended.

I enjoy a spirited debate that explores an idea or provides requested information. I don't enjoy aggressive tones and confrontational delivery of opinion as it seems to leave little room for civil response.

I never said you specifically were slavish and wrong, in fact I went out of my way to follow up and state that I was reacting to a generalized rebuttal of any critiques of Trimet.

my guess is it's the reality of internet forums, and nothing particular to city data portland forums...
remember the greater internet f-wad theory? goes something like anonymity + audience = total f-wad... i think that about sums it up.

Gosh, maybe because you used my name in the same sentence, tied to "people slavishly defending Trimet"? Why bring up my name at all?

I just get really tired of people slavishly defending Trimet no matter what... I have no idea if EnricoV falls into that category, but that's what I was reacting to.
But that's what I was reacting to.

I think you mean this one (note: probably not safe for work due to language) :

Lighten up Francis. Are you looking for a scrum? If anything I was untyng you. What I originally said in the other thread (and what you apparently ignored) was:

Quote:
Perhaps not you personally, but some people who blindly defend Trimet tend to wave off critiques with dismissive remarks like "you have to look at the long run, not the short run."
So if I say "EnricoV is not a jerk" are you going to accuse me of calling you a jerk because I said "EnricoV" and "jerk" in the same sentence?

Sure, but that's not the way you phrased it. If you said "people there are jerks ... I don't know if EnricoV is one, but ...." Then YES, I'd take it as you calling me a jerk.
