Orenco Station is commonly cited as an example of sustainable (and transit-oriented) development, although it is suburban, not urban.

Yiphee !!!
Laurelhurst Park neighborhood area is beautiful and a great location as a home base. Laurelhurst Park, itself is a great park with many tall trees, beautiful rolling lawns, some asphalt trails great for biking and strollers and a lake. Many neighborhood people go there and it's great fun to picnic and enjoy an afternoon.

I agree, that location for a house is going to be AWESOME! You will be able to walk to an incredible amount of things, and Laurelhurst neighborhood is great, with lots of beautiful older homes, and the great park.
You are very lucky. Enjoy.

I can't wait, my only problem is that I might not want to leave ! This happens to me each time we visit Northern California.
