No need to apologize. Most people don't care, it's just a pet peeve of mine.

Thanks. That sounds like a lot of fun!
I hope you have a good time in Portland. If the weather is nice, may I suggest the Portland zoo? It has an exhibit that shows the NW habitat with critters native to Oregon. It's pretty interesting.

Just across from the zoo is the Forestry Center that often has interesting exhibits. There is a small museum of Science and Industry, OMSI, you might like if you are looking for something indoors. Near downtown.

Today, Portlandian is more fun to say. Tomorrow I might say Portlanderian and thanks but don't correct me as I didn't spell Portlander incorrectly, I had fun saying a new word that means the same thing. I said Portlandian before the show, creative license in evolving vernacular... imagine if no one made new words. But I know you were just trying to be helpful and not imposing the way you speak on other people right?

I have never been, but am very interested in the city. Someone close to me suggested that we visit since he absolutely loves the city. He has not been there in awhile though. Do you all recommend Portland as a place to visit?

When I go somewhere, I like to get in on the local action as well as a few touristy activities. Where do you all think is the best place to stay in Portland to see all it has to offer and what fun things are there to do?

Thanks.
When moving to Portland I spent several weeks at Hotel Fifty, it was comparatively inexpensive to other hotels downtown, has a surprisingly good restaurant (great breakfast), and a friendly staff. I'd definitely recommend it.

As for the Portlandians bit, this inhabitant couldn't care less what you call "us", though Pedantic-ians might be more fitting

Who'm I to stop you from saying things wrong?

Go on the New York site and tell them they're all "New Yorkians". I'm sure you'll get a lot of love.

"DAH-ta, look at this."
"'DAY-ta'."
"What ?"
"My name, it is pronounced 'DAY-ta'."
"Oh ?"
"You called me DAH-ta."
"What's the difference ?"
"One is my name, the other is not."

Cool. I honestly didn't make a distinction between the two names because I didn't think about it. In Austin, they refer to themselves as Austinites but they have a new building called the Austonian. I would never call them Austonians, but I can see how an outsider might get confused or not know, especially if the building was one of the first things they heard about the city.

Anyways, it doesn't matter and I hope I can see Portland soon.
