My wife and I will be visiting Portland next week. I lived in Vancouver as a teenager for 4 years. I claim this area as my home and am trying to convince my wife that this is the place we should put a stake in.

Here's a loose itinerary for what we have planned:
1. Ross Island Kayak Tour - Portland Kayak Company
2. Oregon Zoo
3. Eagle Creek Trail
4. Explore downtown
a. Powells
b. Stumptown
c. Food carts SW 10th & Alder - SE 12th & Hawthorne
d. Ground Kontrol arcade
e. ?????
5. Forest Park
6. Pittock Mansion
7. Tom McCall Preserve at Rowena

Being that I was a teen while I lived in the area, I have no idea of the cool pubs/bars in the area. We are staying at the Heathman downtown, so it'd be great to find nightlife within walking distance/MAX transit.

What activity or place should we absolutely include on this list?

Washington Park - Rose Garden & Japanese Garden.

My pub crawling days have long since passed, others can better advise.

PSU farmers market on Saturday. Pine State is also there (it's really tasty but be prepared to wait in line).

For downtown add: Chinese Gardens, Saturday Market. 24 Hour Church of Elvis (will kill about five minutes, but it's a tradition.) Walk the Eastbank Esplanade and looping back around across Steel, Burnside or Morrison bridges.
