Thanks to all that contributed to my last post!

Our trip to Portland was phenomenal! However, we didn't get to do half of the activities we had planned. We arrived the day after the end of the temporary dry spell, which was gloomy, but a definite welcome change to the 97 degree weather we were coming from.

The city is much more awesome than I remembered! After living in Houston the past 7 years as an adult, I can definitely appreciate it more than I could as a teen.

Wind turbines IN the city?? Awesome.

The guided tour with Portland Kayaking Company was an amazing experience. I am SOLD on kayaking now.

After living with so much sun down here in Texas, I was worried that the cloud cover of the PNW would bum me out. It did a little, but more because I was worried that our activities would be hindered by the rain. Not so. Additionally, the weather was perfect the last two days we were there. I'm sure over time the cloudiness could cause a bit of bummery, but I think that could be remedied with outdoor activities.

A main point I'd like to mention for anyone thinking of visiting/relocating would be my experience as a person of color. Growing up in the PNW, I never directly experienced racism. Living in Forks, WA of course we got the curious stares being 1 of the 2 POC families out there... But the south is a completely different story. The racism is very much in your face. So, it was amazing and refreshing to be treated so kindly on this trip. Not only was everyone we encountered friendly, but they were also helpful! Even the panhandlers/homeless were polite!

All this being said, I am once again sold on the PNW and plan to transfer to PSU next year if funds allow. Otherwise, I'll see you all in 2 years!

Before I start doing any research, anyone know of any HR Consulting firms in Portland?
