There is some kind of incident going on that involves the police and an individual pointing a gun, according to someone standing next to the police tape. That is why the streetcar is not running right now - several blocks are cordoned off. Happy walking!

Should be fairly easy to walk about downtown PDX, assuming ordinary health and physical condition. *shrug*

Most days I find myself down there, I get around quite well just by using the shoe leather express.

Of course it's easy to walk, but if you are carrying groceries, etc., or are disabled, this might be helpful info.

I parked in a PSU garage this morning and was surprised to see Market blocked off. Then after I left campus I read that PSU was on lockdown and had the gunman in a PSU parking garage! Not the one I was in, but I did see police cars with their lights going up Broadway. Yikes.

According to the Oregonian, they cleared the parking garage but didn't find him yet.

That's pretty scary. Many of the people who ride the streetcar downtown are in wheelchairs or are in some way disabled and cannot walk. The last time the streetcar line was shut down, buses stopped at the streetcar stops so that people who could not walk to their destination wouldn't be left stranded or waiting for hours.

The guy is still at large. Apparently they had to lock down Lincoln High and Helen Gordon Child Development as well.

Both vehicle and pedestrian traffic were shut down.

Sounds like he is desperate, I wouldn't want to run into him.
