The appts were always being cancelled or the doctor being called off for whatever during the visit. I dropped Legacy recently after I was notified by them that my credit card and SS# , as well as other patients had been stolen by one of the employees in that health system. I have heard a number of recommendations for the Prov St Vincent Hospital, and I am looking for a doctor in that system presently.
Just an FYI, this happens at Providence too. I waited three months to see my pulmonary specialist only to be told she was no longer seeing patients but was now doing research when I arrived for my appointment. No one bothered to call and tell me of the change so I had to find a new PS and wait three more months to see him.

Then Providence had the credit information stolen for thousands of patients who had purchased or rented medical equipment during a certain time period. For our anxiety, they gave us free membership in a credit reporting company.

Many times my appointments at Providence were canceled because they have a lot of younger women doctors who are moms and they would be called home for a child emergency.

On the whole though, I think Providence is a good organization and I have had some good doctors. The labs are good and my hospital stays at both Providence on 42nd and St V's have been without problems.

But as I said, SNAFU's are pretty unavoidable so people should chose their medical practitioners based on the providers themselves rather than the mishaps that are bound to happen.

Thanks for the information. I also got that free credit reporting company for 1 year from Legacy. Your correct one should chose their doctors based on the providers rather than mishaps. It is unsettling though with so many mishaps.

I have a couple relatives that work at the Portland Providence hospital, and have had many relatives spend time in the hospital there, so spent a lot of time around the hospital. I've never had or heard of any religious overtures or interference. Of course, it's obvious in the hospital's decor, but never been pushed at anyone I know of.

It isn't what some Prov health care providers push patients, it is that they may tailor services to meet their, or the facility, beliefs.
