One thing to note, is that unlike what he said in the video, it would be technically illegal to take that on the sidewalk. It would have to be on the road.

It looks kind of cool though, I wonder how much of the Segway technology they're using, or if it's a separate technological development?

I wonder what the "balancing" technology is?

Make sure to pay your insurance... only a matter of time until you need to call your insurance man.

That's what I was wondering.

There is a short segment of the video starting at 4:40 that shows something, but it is not clear exactly what is happening. This seems to keep it from tipping to the front or the rear, but from side to side it seems you must ride it and balance it like a bicycle.

Almost like riding a bicycle but with one real wheel and one phantom wheel.

Interesting design.

Segway (aka Ginger) uses multiple gyroscopes linked via computer to maintain balance. You can still face plant on one. George Bush managed to crash one.

Best I could tell the Ryno uses a combination of gyroscopes as well. The drive system is contained within the wheel area. I am also supposing it is all battery powered (also stowed down low). A Hybrid option might be too bulky to consider. The lower center of gravity would help balance out for the rider. Notice the bar out front of the bike. Looks like anti face plant protection. A panic stop at a decent speed with an inexperienced rider could potentially be painful. Queue Example A: George Bush.

Excellent low speed stability. Using regenerative anti lock braking makes the most sense for stopping the Ryno.

If 2 wheels is a bike, 3 wheels is a trike, The Ryno is an ike?

Weird?

I'm going to patent the "born to be weird" stickers Portland's Ryno riders will be wanting.

All kidding aside. Great idea for low speed travel in urban spaces.
