Hi,

We are looking into moving NE Portland Metro. Can anyone tell me about Troutdale/Corbett/Sandy? I need to know about Jr. Highs and High Schools, Crime and gangs.

Thanks!

I live in the Sandy Area. It's a great place to live, but it's growing fast, so it's an expensive place to live.
I homeschool, but some of my friends who do send their children to school here...really like the schools.
Small and not overly packed with kids.
Not sure about the Troutdale school district.
The crime in Sandy is pretty mild. Typical teenage mischeif, but not as bad as troutdale.
Troutdale seems to be always in the evening news with some sort of crime going on. More gangs...Maybe because it's closer to Portland?
Anyway...good luck.

East Gresham (east of 282nd). Low crime area, bigger lots, still affordable housing (though there are pricy ones as well). Sam Barlow High School is great, not sure about middle schools. The area I am referring to is "Pleasant Home", "Cottrell" etc. It is 10 minutes into shopping in Gresham. During high traffic times you can take Division east and miss a lot of the "school letting out" traffic as well as the commute traffic.

Choose Corbett, but realize it is Rural. It has good community spirit and support for school.

I prefer country school, and knowing my kid's friends and their families. You can't beat the view

(tho the wind can be a bit much (like at the moment... I look down on Corbett from across the river but have farmer friends who live there, And I attend community events there.)
