Thank you Rob. At this point I'm willing to take any job as long as I can pay for living expenses. I hear there's alot of strip clubs in Portland. Are they hiring male strippers? lol

I heard that the Alberta district is changing from an ethnic area to a more cosmopolitan artistic area. The last thing I want to do is leave my decent working class neighborhood in Chicago and live in the worst part of Portland. That's irony in itself right there. lol

What part of Chicago? I lived in Portage (Indiana) and spent a lot of time in Chicago. Maybe I can give you a comparison. I am going to Portland next week (The 6th) and I can take a look at the area with a fresh perspective.

If you live in the inner N/NE area and attend PSU, you'll be able to commute on the MAX Yellow Line. You've been to this website, I trust? TriMet: Public Transit in the Portland Area

Does PSU offer any help finding jobs or housing?

What kind of work experience do you have? Do you want to continue working in that field while you go to grad school?

No big demand for male strippers that I know of, but you could audition for the drag shows at Darcelle's or Embers.

That would be great Steve could you let me know some specifics about the Alberta area. Are there apartment complexes in the area? diversity? income level? I won't be in Portland until early Feburary so I have to rely on you guys for help until i get there. I live in Hyde Park in Chicago.

Thanks Rob. Yeah they offer housing but I think I can get housing in Portland much cheaper off campus. And I dont necessarily have to live in the downtown area as long as I'm close to a Max station. I did a little substitute teaching at schools in Chicago. I'm trying to become a technical writer but judging by the job situation in Portland I guess I can't be choosy.

Hyde Park .... I doubt it is going to be Alberta, but I'll give it an honest look.

Alberta won't be Hyde Park. I don't think you find anything thing in Portland that will compare.
