Nah, it happens. And more often than many people would like to admit.

But it was a lovely day, wasn't it.

It was a perfect day! We toured Pacific University with one of our kids and saw Mt. Hood on most of the drive back.

Honestly, months of grey drizzle is managable if it's spotted withthose kindof. Days even once or twice a month!

If you live in Portland, you learn what the weatherman means when he calls for sun breaks.

While certainly an exaggeration (more on the length of the sunbreak), this sketch from the new season of Portlandia really does paint a good picture of Portland winters. The sunbreaks come, and you get out and enjoy them when they do.

LOL at the video!

Well, it was sunny again in Portland yesterday. It was only about 28* but it was sunny and beautiful! We went to VooDoo Donuts and Powell's before we caught our flight home to CA where it will be almost 80* with Santa Ana winds in just a few days. Yuck! Wish I were back in Portland!

It's not bad, really, until you remember that you're paying $2700 a month to rent a three bedroom house. The sun feels a lot less warm then.

Not with the Santa Ana winds. Dries out your skin, puts static in everything, blows trash everywhere, etc.

We own and don't pay anywhere near that but I hear ya on the costs!

I lived in So Cal for 5 years, and I agree that day after day of sun and those winds can really get you down.

I'm just saying that right now, after several consecutive days of highs barely reaching 40, I'd love to thaw out for about 4 hours.

Oh well, good for you! You are certainly in the minority for Orange County as far as housing costs are concerned. Most anything decent around here runs in the $400-$700K range and a decent home is $2500 minimum.

The Santa Anas do dry things out, but it's just one of those things you get used to. Extra lotion, humidifiers, and making sure you don't have anything that will tip over in the yard and you're right as rain. I think the winds add an almost spooky, exciting aspect. Especially since they come and go so quickly.
