Hello,

My best friend and I are considering relocating to the Portland Oregon area this summer from Texas.
She will be attending college and I will be pursuing my esthetics career there.
I also have a child. With that being said we are wanting to find a nice safe area to live.

We would like to find an apartment or home that is in a nice safe community and has great school districts for my kiddo. We are seeking a 2-3 bedroom apartment or home. That's affordable and safe.

So the questions we have are as follows:

1. What are the best areas of town to live in?
We are not wanting to live any further than 20 minutes from downtown but prefer to be close as possible.

2. What are the areas to stay away from?

3. Which areas have the best elementary schools and which schools need to be avoided?

4. Does anyone have a referral for an rental property locator service?

5. Which areas are great for jobs in the beauty industry ( Waxing, Spa & Beauty services )

We appreciate any advice and suggestions that you fellow Oregonians can provide

Thanks

Almost every area has both good and bad. Some just have more good. You need to decided where you want to be and than ask if it has issues.

The beauty industry is saturated.

Rules say we can't refer an agent or agency.

Last question. Google Portland rental property management. Those you find will have little charts you fill in that will ask how far away from what areas like downtown you want to be, what price range you are looking for how large an apartment, what you want to spend etc. They can answer those questions better than anyone here.

The other big question- what is "affordable" to you?
