Integra confirms plans to move corporate HQ from Portland to east Vancouver | OregonLive.com

Sad to see a company leave the city, but happy they're staying in the area so jobs won't leave the region. Though I'd have to debate the individual financial benefit of going from a 7%ish state income tax effective rate to a 7% sales tax. They call it a "raise" but WA is still going to get their tax.

The HP campus has been for sale for years (the spouse left in 2006? and it was already for sale, both the big campus) and I am sure Integra got a great deal on it, much cheaper than building new or renovating. Hard to find a sprawling campus anywhere else in the metro area. Doubt that the state of Washington actually even enticed them over with tax breaks.

A lot of people at HP (back when there WERE a lot of people at HP Vancouver) lived in Oregon and commuted over - we did.

Yeah, and Tektronix too.

Thanks, Danaher.

Still better than what happened to a lot of former Tek engineers who went over to Xerox Wilsonville to work on the wax printer and got "sold" to an Indian subcontracting engineering firm (same desk, same job, different employer). Oh, and then laid off within a year with very meager benefits.
