Any study that would rank OR as worse than CA for retirement is clearly suspect, and has ignored thousands (or even higher order of magnitude) who have voted with their feet!

When we get tired of rain, we drive our retired butts somewhere else. Problem solved.

South Dakota has the largest number of non resident residents. It has to do with the Snowbird thing, taxes, and vehicle registration.

The first thing we notice when we moved up here 10 years ago from the CA is how nice people are, they at least speak and ask how your day is going..Not in Ca do they do that..
Love the weather, rain just put on a jacket and get going ..
We are retired and happy to be here...

Ouch. I would never block the whole aisle and I try to be considerate in my daily life. I don't hear as well as I used to, so there have been times I didn't realize someone was behind me traveling at a higher speeds. Maybe they can put some little bicycle bells on the carts so the hurried shoppers can warn us slower moving shoppers of their approach.

I am one of the folks that actually think we should have a sales tax and lower the mandatory reduction in paycheck. If you are retired or not working someone else is paying your portion of the tax . You never give away something for nothing, else, you have no "skin" in the game.

Oh yeah, right, Because the politicians are certain to lower your other taxes if a sales tax get passed. Someone still in Junior High might even really believe that (but probably not)

Retirees do pay taxes. They pay property taxes, gasoline taxes, road use taxes, probably income taxes, and maybe even lodging taxes. Some of them pay for hunting and fishing licenses (which are taxes) and their National Forest permits and snow zone parking stickers.
