Hello again!

Just wondering what you folks pay for health insurance premiums to cover your family as once we move the whole family will go on my husband's plan since I won't be working any longer (except on my Etsy shop). We're a family of five, and will be on an HMO.

That will largely depend on your husband's employer.

Looks like they only do a PPO (and a lousy one at that) in Oregon through his work, and it will be about $900/month for it. We've contacted private insurers and are going to pay more like $500 a month until the health insurance marketplace opens in January. Thanks for the help, though!

Have you considered Kaiser? I know they are big in California. I had them when I was employed here and I liked them. They seem to have a good reputation here.

My take on the OP's need is major medical until ACA is an option. With kids you can't beat Kaiser but it isn't cheap. When ACA is available they may qualify for an offset that will change her calculation significantly.

The whole game changes as of this November - any estimate or quote anyone can give you now isn't likely to be the final number.
